What is EuroInfo
EuroInfo is up-to-date information available in English, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian languages about the activity of non-governmental organizations, cultural and educational institutions from Poland, Ukraine, Russia and other European countries. Euro-Info provides assistance in establishment of cooperation between partners from Eastern Europe and European Union.
Since the beginning of 90-ties in all countries of Eastern Europe the movement of non-governmental organizations has been developing. In many countries the organizations learned to collaborate efficiently with each other and to communicate by using modern information technology. Gradually, the cross-border cooperation projects are developing. A substantial obstacle in establishing international cooperation is lack of available, clear information about potential partners, events, meetings and needs of potential partners.
Euro-Info basing on a network of volunteers and co-workers selects the most important actual information from the life of NGO, civic initiatives, cultural and educational institutions from Poland, Ukraine, Russia and other European countries, translates it into other languages and than publishes it at portals of NGO, educational or information centers in Poland, Ukraine, Russia and other countries.
Selected information, translated by EuroInfo will be published among others at such web-pages as: www.ngo.pl, http://www.civic.ua, www.interklasa.pl. (…)
How does EuroInfo work?
1) Euro-Info Partners – select information, which in their opinion is the most important worth of being translated (fully, introduction or summary) mentioning simultaneously the potential audience (country, category of information). The selected materials are transferred to appropriate Coordinator (Partners from Poland to the Polish one, from Russia to Russian one, from Ukraine to Ukrainian one, from other countries to the Coordinator of the English language service).
2) Coordinators entrust with translation of texts on selected languages and than publish them at Internet portals in Poland, Russia, Ukraine and EU.
3) All translated materials are also available at the web-page: http://euroinfo.infrust.org (in future also with mailing list)
How to support the activity of Euro-Info
EuroInfo Partners – active people in surrounding of non-governmental organizations who have a possibility during their usual professional or civic activities to choose monthly 5-10 pieces of information (in the sphere they work in) which according to them could be useful for recipients from other countries.
For instance, information can relate to the following:
- invitation for a meeting, conference, workshop that can be interesting for people from neighboring countries
- important publications
- search for partners for cooperation
- links to interesting/important page
Reports from projects which were carried out are not published at EuroInfo.
Partners of EuroInfo don’t promote the activity of their organization!!!
Instructions for the Partners of Euro-Info:
When local NGO, school or other institution considers beginning their first international project in neighboring countries they meet with information barrier which hampers them to identify potential partners, establish first contacts and also solve often banal organizational problems.
Partner of EuroInfo (leader of active international NGO, journalist or expert) using means of Internet sees every day an information which can be important in other countries for:
a) leaders of NGO
b) teachers, professors of higher education institutions
c) leaders and workers of territorial bodies of self-government from neighboring countries (at the first stage we cover by our activity Poland, Ukraine and Russia).
Due to support of EuroInfo a Partner will have an opportunity to share this information with others. Euro-Info will ultimately bring together tens of Partners-volunteers, who will select materials.
Tasks of the Partner
1) identify useful information for contacts establishment or cooperation among organizations from different countries and qualify which audience is a target for this information (country, language):
Examples of useful information:
a) Invitations for interesting ecological workshops for teachers. Workshops take place in Poland not far from Ukrainian border – this information first of all is important for Ukrainian teachers – Ukrainian language. If those seminars took place close to Kaliningrad oblast, then it should be translated into Russian.
b) Foundation X announced call for proposal for cooperation between schools from Ukraine and Russia (Ukrainian and Russian languages)
c) EU countries introduce new rules for issuing visas for representatives of non-governmental organizations – English, Russian, Ukrainian
d) Ecological organization in Russia published at its page new interesting methodical materials for teachers – English, Polish, Ukrainian
e) Organization W published analytical report on third sector development in Eastern Europe – English, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian
2) propose to translate first paragraph/ summary (+link) or full information
3) send link or material to Coordinator who is responsible for translation and spreading text at appropriate servers in other countries.
